Official Record: Residence was not listed; 37 years old. Enlisted on 10/1/1862 at Chain Bridge, VA as a Chaplain. On 10/25/1862 he was commissioned into Field & Staff NY 142nd Infantry He was Mustered Out on 6/7/1865 at Raleigh, NC (Not Commissioned Chaplain)
The 142nd New York saw heavy combat at Drewry’s Bluff, Darbytown Road, and Ft Fisher.
