Robert Yard, 1st New Jersey Infantry

Robert B. Yard (1828-1875):

Rev. Robert B. Yard enlisted June 25, 1861 as chaplain for the 1st New Jersey Infantry. He remained with the unit until March 7, 1864, when he resigned to stand for election to Methodist church post. He was a veteran of Gaines Mill during the Seven Days, where the 1st New Jersey suffered its greatest combat losses of the war, and at Second Manassas.
